What was the highlight of Yizhong Staycay
Exceptional
The property is a new building located on a little side street in a fairly central part of town. The room was clean and comfortable, with hot and cold water to fill in your flask available on the second floor. The building is close to a well connected bus station and not that far away from Taichung station. It is also close to many restaurants and charming little shops. Staff was nice and kept in touch to make sure we could find the property. Check out was also a simple process. We enjoyed our stay there.

Very convenient to travelers as they have self check-in and you can also leave your luggage at the receiving area after check-out with no additional cost and with cctv so your belongings are safe :) the area is a gem in the middle of a quiet street

What was the highlight of Yizhong Staycay
Decent bare-bones budget hotel - great location, but you can find better at the same price point.
The location is great - very close to a bustling night market and loads of restaurants. For a budget hotel, it's bare bones but not bad - clean bathrooms and comfy bed/pillows. The WiFi was inconsistent in the room, so we asked the staff about it and they gave us access to another network that worked great...not sure why they don't just give access to this one to begin with. The cleaning and check-in staff were very friendly and helpful.
There are definitely nicer hotels in comparable locations with the same price point. The mosquitoes are bad (and we visited during low mosquito season). You'll either wake up with bites or spend a decent chunk of time trying to kill the them in your tiny room. The bathroom has a noticeable sewage smell, and I'm guessing they're drawn mostly to that. Even with all screens closed, they find a way in. We also made a small request to the staff to check out 30 min late and didn't hear back...there's also no front desk, so communication is not always easy.
